What We Are Looking For

We are seeking a reliable and detail-oriented Slicing Line Operator to play a key role in our production team, ensuring the efficient and accurate slicing, weighing, and packing of Salumi Australia's premium cured meats. You'll maintain high standards of food safety, quality, and presentation, contributing directly to the consistency and reputation of our award-winning products..

The Role

  • Work collaboratively with all Salumi employees to maintain a harmonious and productive working environment.
  • Operate and monitor slicing and packaging lines safely and efficiently
  • Inspect products for quality, freshness, and conformance before and after processing
  • Manage product labelling and packaging integrity, ensuring accurate batch and date coding
  • Conduct stock control activities (FIFO) and monthly reconciliations
  • Maintain accurate production and quality records
  • Identify and quarantine non-conforming products, escalating to the Production Manager as required
  • Clean and perform basic maintenance on slicing and packaging machinery
  • Implement and maintain cleaning schedules per company hygiene policies
  • Support and train team members to ensure efficient and high-quality production
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives for efficiency, safety, and quality

Food Safety Responsibilities:

  • Comply with all regulatory and food safety requirements (Food Standards Code, Food Act 2003, Food Regulation NSW 2010, Salumi Australia Food Safety Program).
  • Maintain the work area and equipment in a hygienic and safe condition, so as to avoid cross contamination of raw food stuffs with ready to eat food stuffs
  • Perform daily cleaning of work areas, tools, and packaging equipment to meet the highest sanitation standards in line with the Cleaning Policy.
  • Proactively follow Good Manufacturing Practices by carrying out and adhering to all company guidelines, Standard Operating Procedures, Food Safety Program/HACCP.

About YOU:

  • Forklift licence – preferred but not essential
  • Strong commitment to cleanliness, hygiene, and food safety
  • Excellent attention to detail and ability to follow procedures
  • Physically fit – capable of performing manual tasks (lifting, moving, pushing)
  • Reliable and self-motivated with a strong work ethic
  • Able to work effectively both independently and within a team
  • Previous experience in food manufacturing or packaging – preferred
  • Positive, adaptable, and proactive attitude
  • Ability to maintain focus during repetitive tasks
