Dark Mofo is Tasmania's iconic midwinter festival of art, music, food and noise, pushing boundaries and bringing extraordinary experiences to life. We're looking for an Operations Manager – Safety and Compliance to take on the challenge of delivering a festival full of ambitious, high-risk projects. This role sits at the core of the operations team, making sure daring ideas can be realised without losing control of the chaos - balancing creativity, risk and compliance to make the festival happen.

The Gig
  • Lead safety and emergency management planning and processes across the festival while working closely with our Health, Safety and Risk Management consultant.
  • Oversee risk identification, review and assessment in collaboration with project teams, while working closely with our Health, Safety and Risk Management consultant.
  • Lead the process for obtaining all required temporary occupancy permits.
  • Review venues, projects, site plans and documentation to advise on occupancy, permits, risk, safety and compliance matters.
  • Working with the Production and Operations manager to obtain all festival-wide permits, licences and generate event documentation.
  • Working with the Production and Operations manager and project teams to ensure event management, traffic, noise and safety plans are in place and compliant.
  • Support training, inductions and qualifications for staff and contractors.
  • Be a key leader in the festival's emergency and safety structures, setting the tone for a safe and supportive workplace
  • Oversee the smooth running of the event Operations Centre.
The You
  • Strong experience in festivals, large-scale events, or operational delivery roles.
  • Proven track record in authoring risk and safety documentation.
  • Excellent project management, time management and organisational skills.
  • Highly developed communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Collaborative, flexible and solutions-focused approach.
  • Ability to manage competing priorities across multiple projects.
  • Solid work ethic, with flexibility to work varied hours as required.
  • Comfortable using Google Workspace and project tracking tools.
