Sydney New South Wales Australia Employment Hero Full time $120,000 - $180,000 per year

Employment Hero is on a mission to make employment easier and more valuable for everyone. We've developed an Employment Operating System, an all-in-one solution that combines hiring, HR, payroll, and benefits. Since our start in 2014, we've grown to a $2 billion valuation and now operate in Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Malaysia, the UK, and Canada. We currently serve over 300,000 businesses and more than 2 million employees.

The EH Way

At Employment Hero, we're proud of our unique DNA, which we call The EH Way.

  • We are Mission First – everything we do (from what we work on, to how we allocate capital and where we focus) is driven by our Mission.
  • We are Remote First – we champion a remote environment with a preference for asynchronous communication and a high degree of autonomy.
  • We are AI First – we are committed to using AI to accelerate our mission; AI is not just a tool, it's a fundamental part of how we operate, innovate, and scale.
  • We are Apolitical – we do not take a position on political or social topics, unless it relates to our Mission.
  • We Live by Our Values – we role model our values 100% of the time.
  • We Expect High Performance – we set a high standard and we're not satisfied with being average.

This role

The People Operations Lead (Shared Services) is a first-of-its-kind role at Employment Hero, focused on designing and delivering the core processes, automations and shared services foundations that power People Operations across every stage of the employee lifecycle. In this role, you'll work closely with our People Operations Manager to build a modern, tech-enabled shared services function that supports Heroes globally. You'll be hands-on in refining systems and strengthening operational workflows, and introducing AI and automation to remove friction and support our teams more effectively.

This is a role for someone who is curious, ambitious and excited to build something meaningful – without needing to have done it all before. You'll learn fast, experiment often, and play a key role in uplifting how Heroes engage with our People team. Your role will be pivotal in driving the success of Employment Hero through:

  • Rebuilding our service desk into a dependable, intuitive support hub that serves as a critical enabler for our global teams
  • Designing and refining scalable People Ops processes and workflows that bring structure, speed and operational precision to the employee lifecycle
  • Embedding AI, automation and workflow tools that eliminate manual tasks and tighten operational accuracy
  • Using operational data and insights to inform priorities and enable better decision-making across People Operations

This will include:

  • Co-build a modern, high-clarity service desk with People Ops, designing simple intake and triage flows that make getting support effortless.
  • Own key employee lifecycle moments (onboarding, changes, offboarding) to ensure accuracy, smooth delivery and a great experience for leaders and employees.
  • Optimise and integrate our People Ops systems and tools, applying AI and automation to remove admin noise and improve speed and accuracy.
  • Turn complex People processes into clean, intuitive, self-service experiences — creating guides, resources and tools that help Heroes find answers fast.
  • Analyse lifecycle and operational data to uncover trends, pain points and improvement opportunities that guide People Ops priorities.
  • Partner with People Partners, Talent, IT, Payroll and more to strengthen cross-functional workflows, maintain alignment and keep communication tight.
  • Continuously identify bottlenecks and design scalable improvements that boost team capacity and lift the overall employee experience globally.

Who you are

To thrive at Employment Hero, you'll need to embody The EH Way — operating with focus, agility, and an obsession with impact. For this role, you'll also bring:

  • A systems mindset: you naturally look for patterns, structure and better ways of working, and you enjoy creating order out of complexity
  • Expertise in AI and emerging technologies: you instinctively look for opportunities to automate, optimise and create smarter ways of working.
  • A growth mindset: you lean into challenges, seek feedback, learn fast and adapt quickly in a dynamic environment
  • A bias for clarity and action: you're hands-on, proactive and comfortable breaking down ambiguous problems into clear, simple steps
  • Strong communication and collaboration: you translate ideas into easy-to-understand language and work well with people across different teams and disciplines
  • Reliability and follow-through: you take pride in accuracy, organisation and delivering work that others can depend on

What we can offer

At Employment Hero, we don't just talk about a better way to work — we live it. Joining Employment Hero means:

  • You will work remotely, with the flexibility to own your time and impact.
  • You will access cutting-edge tools to amplify your work, knowledge, and outputs.
  • You'll surround yourself with ambitious, outcome-driven colleagues who challenge you to do the best work of your life.
  • You'll own ESOP (employee share options) in one of the world's fastest-growing tech companies.
  • You'll also have access to a wide range of benefits that includes a very generous parental leave policy, subsidized egg freezing (so you can make the choice that's right for you, on your terms), a WFH office expense budget, and outstanding learning & development opportunities.

Employment Hero celebrates diverse perspectives and experiences. We invite people of all backgrounds and identities to apply for this position.
