About Us

SA Steelworks is a leading structural steel fabrication and construction company committed to delivering high-quality steel products and services. We are looking for a QA Assistant & Purchasing Officer to join our team and support our quality assurance and procurement operations. This is a great opportunity for someone with a keen eye for detail and a strong understanding of Quality Assurance.

Key Responsibilities

Quality Assurance:

  • Assist in implementing and maintaining quality control processes for structural steel fabrication.
  • Conduct inspections of raw materials, fabricated components, and finished products to ensure compliance with Australian Standards and project specifications.
  • Maintain QA records, including material traceability, welding documentation, and inspection reports.
  • Assist with internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with industry regulations.
  • Work closely with workshop and site teams to identify and resolve quality issues.

Purchasing & Procurement:

  • Source and order steel, consumables, and other materials required for fabrication and construction.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with suppliers to ensure cost-effective purchasing.
  • Monitor inventory levels and coordinate deliveries to align with project schedules.
  • Ensure compliance with company procurement policies and industry standards.

What We're Looking For

Previous experience in QA, procurement, or a related role within structural steel, manufacturing, or construction.

Strong understanding of steel fabrication processes, welding standards, and material specifications.

Excellent attention to detail and ability to interpret technical drawings.

Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple tasks.

Proficiency in using procurement and quality management systems.

Strong communication and negotiation skills.
