National Engineering Work Group Leader
Senversa is a wholly Australian, employee-owned team of highly qualified and experienced professionals delivering exceptional civil, environmental and ground engineering services across Australia. We are recognised for delivering high quality, commercial and technically astute solutions to our clients across Australia.
The National Work Group Leader (WGL) is a senior strategic leadership role and sits within Senversa's senior management team, working closely with other discipline WGLs, the COO and CEO. With a remit to grow engineering services, the WGL has the opportunity to build and diversify Senversa's engineering offering - in the services we offer, the sectors we work across and the geographies in which we work.
The WGL will lead the development and successful implementation of the workgroup and company strategies while building our brand and markets, and attracting and nurturing talent. The role is one that exemplifies culture leadership, effective people leadership, a strategic mindset, strong client relationship and business development skills.
The Workgroup Leader, with active support from the COO and other key leaders and senior practitioners within the business, will foster distributed leadership across the engineering operations to promote professional development, collaboration and project delivery excellence within the team. This critical role will be supported by integrated, multi-disciplinary teams of civil, environmental, geospatial, digital, design and sustainability professionals.
Although your industry connections and technical prowess will be integral to the success of the role, the team has an enviable client list and significant existing volume of work. Our current team includes industry leaders in geosynthetics; landfill and repository design, construction, supervision and management; and broader waste management and associated risk solutions.
Our commitment to you
We pride ourselves on a culture of sustainability, corporate social responsibility, workplace diversity, flexible working conditions and equal opportunity. We are a company that lives and breathes our company values; values that are truly committed to enhancing the careers of our people.
In addition to an inclusive, fast-paced working environment, you will be part of leading a team that prides itself on technical excellence. Our senior staff are committed to coaching and mentoring staff in a dynamic, positive, respectful and constructive professional environment.
We are a team that is looking to the future and are excited to be adopting 'digital by default', helping to ensure we have the resources to provide our clients efficient and innovative solutions.
So, what will you do?
You will role model our vision and values as our teams and business evolves.
On a day to day basis, you will demonstrate your technical competence and commercial acumen by ensuring the delivery of quality projects as a Project Director, or through oversight of your team deliverables.
This role will see your effective contribution to:
Promoting Senversa Culture: As a leader, creating a supportive, nurturing, and exciting workplace culture for high-quality professionals. This involves fostering a positive environment that encourages collaboration, professional growth, and employee satisfaction.
Strategic Business Development: Leading the development and implementation of strategic growth initiatives within the Engineering team as well as initiatives to achieve our broader company goals.
Multidisciplinary Collaboration: Supporting the success of the wider Senversa teams, including collaborating across disciplines to identify market opportunities and multidisciplinary approaches to client needs.
Engineering Team Leadership: Ensuring engineering recruitment, resourcing, financial performance management and staff development actions are undertaken in a timely and proactive manner. This includes supportive coaching and mentoring of team members and leaders.
Profile Raising Initiatives: Managing profile-raising initiatives, including representing the company at both internal and external networking events and supporting professional development opportunities.
Project Direction: to ensure the delivery of a range of interesting and complex projects.
Overall, this role is vital in driving growth, ensuring high-quality services, and maintaining a positive and innovative work environment within the Engineering team at Senversa.
Highly desirable professional skills you will bring to the team:
Bachelor of Engineering in Civil, Geotechnical or Environmental Engineering, or Engineering Geology.
Registered Practicing Engineer, Chartered Engineer or similar.
Experience in similar technical and leadership roles.
Dedication to Health and Safety.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Solutions focus and partnership orientation.
Strong commercial acumen and ability to understand and deliver financial performance.
Lateral thinking, problem solving and strong collaboration and team working abilities.
Demonstrated ability to develop and maintain strong working relationships with peers, direct reports and clients.
Proven experience in leading and developing teams.
The role is open to Australian citizens or permanent working visa holders based in NSW, QLD or Victoria.
