About The Role
AEMO's Corporate Strategy team shapes our organisational direction by developing a long-term vision, priorities and goals. We advise the Board, CEO and Executive Leadership on emerging strategic opportunities, challenges and trends, drawing on comprehensive energy industry analysis and organisational performance insights. Collaborating across all AEMO divisions, we provide a holistic, strategic perspective, enabling informed decision-making to best deliver on AEMO's evolving role. The Strategy team also works closely across the organisation to translate our strategy into clear plans to deliver our vision and purpose.
Reporting to the Group Manager Strategy, you will be working within a high-impact and tight-knit team, focused on analysing Australia's energy systems and trends, assessing best practices from similar organisations, delivering insights to Board, Executive and Senior leadership, supporting the development of strategic priorities and guiding AEMO's strategic planning process. Your contribution will be pivotal in shaping Australia's energy future.
What You Will Be Doing
In this role, you will leverage your strong foundations in energy industry and knowledge to analyse Australian energy system and market trends, undertake scenario planning and identify key implications to AEMO and the energy transition.
Key Accountabilities Include
- Undertake complex strategic analysis, developing and applying frameworks and tools.
- Proactively monitor and evaluate local and international trends in the energy sector.
- Develop actionable strategic insights and implications for AEMO.
- Oversee and track the delivery of strategic initiatives across the organisation.

What You Will Bring To The Role
We seek a critical and strategic thinker with strong foundations in the energy sector and a background in consulting, corporate strategy, energy operations or energy policy, ready to drive corporate strategy at a national level.
- Tertiary qualifications in a relevant business discipline (Engineering, Science, Economics, Commerce).
- Strong foundations in a strategy-focused role, ideally gained within a leading consulting firm, corporate strategy function or a relevant energy industry context.
- Superior analytical and modelling skills, with the ability to efficiency structure and undertake analysis with proficiency in using the tools available
- Exceptional structured thinking and complex problem-solving skills, with an ability to strategically frame issues, and develop and rigorously test hypotheses
- Strong communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with experience working directly with senior management.
