Who are we looking for?

MI Engineers is seeking a passionate and driven Civil Designer with proficiency in 12D and DRAINS design software to join our growing Design & Project Management team in our Wollongong, South Coast NSW office. The successful candidate will support our business in project delivery of a wide variety of infrastructure design projects. Clear communication skills and enjoyment working in a team environment is essential.

Candidates must demonstrate required proficiency in DRAINS software for civil design applications.

Responsibilities:

  • Use your skills and experience as a senior member of our Civil Design Team working on a diverse range of projects – skills and experience in 12D is required to fulfil this role
  • Ensuring company and client expectations are agreed and met within allocated timeframes and budgets
  • Building accurate models of the project design in 12D Model
  • Collating design information from design drawings or other electronic models
  • Identifying potential or existing issues with designs and communicating possible solutions
  • Leading and mentoring of junior staff.

About you:

  • Minimum 5 years' recent experience working in a civil engineering design consultancy.
  • The ability to 'hit the ground running' with proficiency in the use of software such as AutoCAD and 12D is essential
  • Advanced user-level proficiency in 12D software is required to effectively contribute from day one
  • Proven ability to work autonomously and as part of a team
  • Great relationship building and communication skills
  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Engineering or equivalent experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or related engineering discipline (or equivalent combination of education and experience)
  • Experience in the management and mentoring of staff.
  • Knowledge of Australian standards and regulations for civil engineering design and construction
  • Current Australian driver's licence for site visits and client meetings
