D&B has partnered with a dynamic family business based in Wollongong, that has been established since 1988. They work across the nation on broad range of design and construction projects, from commercial offices to medical, veterinary, childcare projects.

About the Role

As a Senior Interior Architect, you will lead the design for high-impact commercial projects from concept through to delivery. You will act as a bridge between clients, in-house design & construction teams, consultants, suppliers and regulatory bodies. You'll be crucial in ensuring designs are not only beautiful and functional, but compliant, buildable, and aligned with budget & timeline expectations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the interior architecture design process—concept, design development, documentation, finishes, lighting, materials, FF&E etc.
  • Collaborate with in-house and external stakeholders (engineers, clients, consultants) to ensure design integration, compliance with codes & standards.
  • Manage multiple projects, from early-stage feasibility / site assessments through to handover.
  • Prepare detailed interior documentation (plans, elevations, specs, schedules, etc.), ensure quality control.
  • Monitor and coordinate with construction teams to ensure design intent is maintained and issues are resolved.
  • Mentor and guide junior/intermediate architectural designers or interior architects.
  • Contribute to design innovation, sustainability, and value management ideals.
  • Keep up-to-date with relevant building codes, regulations, material innovations and industry best practices.

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Interior Design or Interior Architecture.
  • At least 8+ years of experience in interior architecture or commercial interiors design, ideally including sectors such as medical, veterinary, childcare, or similar.
  • Strong portfolio demonstrating high quality interior architecture work: concept through to detailed delivery.
  • Excellent technical skills: documentation, detailing, knowledge of materials, FF&E, lighting, finishes.
  • Proficiency in Revit
  • Strong understanding of building codes, regulations, and construction processes.
  • Excellent communication skills—both verbal and written; ability to present to clients and internal stakeholders.
  • Good project management skills, with an ability to lead multiple projects, manage budgets, timelines.
  • A collaborative mindset; able to work well with construction teams, consultants, and internal staff.
