• Salary: Band 8 - $119,380.44 to $133,491.70 plus Superannuation

The opportunity

Step into a newly created leadership role that's driving the future of fleet and operations at Hobsons Bay. As Coordinator Fleet, Plant and Yard Operations, you'll oversee Council's vehicle fleet, lead strategic renewal of replacement programs, and manage workshop and yard functions with a sharp eye for safety, compliance, and sustainability. With a strong analytical mindset and consultative approach, you'll champion innovation, while streamlining systems, empowering staff, and building cross-departmental collaboration. What you'll be doing

• Leading Operations Centre functions, including yard logistics, PPE, deliveries, and waste disposal, ensuring safety, efficiency, and emergency readiness.
• Overseeing Council's fleet and drive strategic improvements to the fleet replacement program for cost-effective, sustainable service delivery.
• Developing and implementing policies and procedures to ensure compliance across fleet, plant, yard, and workshop operations.
• Coordinating workshop repairs and servicing, utilising data systems to monitor performance and optimise asset use.
• Administering fleet budgets, leading procurement and vendor management.
• Mentoring staff to foster a high-performing, safety-focused workplace culture.

What you'll need to succeed

• Degree in Asset Management or similar field, and/or extensive experience in the management of a corporate fleet service and mechanical workshop
• Expertise in fleet management, maintenance, asset lifecycle planning, and regulatory compliance
• Strong knowledge of WHS, risk management, and emergency response practices
• Skilled in asset systems, data analysis, and performance reporting
• Committed to sustainability and innovation, including EV transition and emissions reduction
• Proven leadership, communication, and staff development capabilities across diverse teams
