The opportunity

As the Resource Recovery Project Officer, you'll deliver community education and engagement activities as part of a small team, collaborating to develop, implement, and monitor innovative operational and engagement projects for Hobsons Bay City Council's kerbside waste services.

What you'll be working on

  • Developing, implementing, and evaluating projects and programs that improve Council's kerbside waste and recycling services
  • Engaging, building and strengthening relationships with Hobsons Bay businesses, clubs and groups
  • Administering and monitoring Council invoices and contract activity with external providers
  • Delivering the incursion education program to schools and community groups and facilitating community initiatives such as Clean Up Australia Day
  • Providing advice to ensure high-quality outcomes for future waste management

What you'll need to succeed

  • Project management skills essential
  • Experience in waste and recycling and/or environmental management
  • Knowledge of community engagement in a local or state government context
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including reporting and public speaking and engagement
  • Demonstrated skills in data analysis, problem solving and applying innovative thinking to solve complex problems
  • Formal qualifications are desirable but not essential. Relevant qualifications include environmental science, marketing, communications and project management.
