IT Support Generalist
7 days ago
Jacob Allom Wade is an architectural firm with the largest group of architectural professionals in Tasmania. With recent growth in the practice and the challenging cyber security landscape, we are looking for a knowledgeable IT support professional to assist our ICT Manager in providing sysadmin, network and cloud services support to the company. This could be either a permanent full-time position or a part time role transitioning to a full- time employment, commencing as soon as possible.
This is a rare opportunity for an information technology professional allrounder to broaden their expertise in a professional services business that is in the process of upgrading its cybersecurity systems.
The role is dynamic, varied and very broad, from user support, network maintenance, self-hosted cloud services to system administration, and therefore you will not be pigeonholed into one area of expertise, with the senior management fully supportive of the role. There is a significant creative component to the job as well, as it often requires out of the box solutions and lateral approach. The company is keen to maintain its competitive technology advantage and is always looking for new solutions to improve productivity.
To be successful in this role you must:
have strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to clearly explain technical concepts to non-technical staff and provide effective support to users at all levels;
have advanced qualifications in IT or a related field of study or have a proven industry experience of at least 4-5 years;
have well-rounded robust information technology skills with above average attention to detail;
have an awareness of best practice in IT cyber security and systems, and experience with technology products for endpoint management, application control and vulnerability management. Industry certifications, i.e. Microsoft or similar, would be highly regarded;
have experience with Windows Operating Environment, including Windows Server, Active Directory, Exchange, Office 365 Hybrid Administration, MS Entra, MS MFA; and
have experience with firewalls, routers, switches, network segmentation, VPN, Secure Gateway RDP, branch management, proxies, spam filters, VLANs, other networking devices, and virtualisation software.
be open to expand your horizons and learn new products and solutions as we use niche products that fit best for our work environment.
If you have a demonstrable general admin experience, this would be a significant advantage allowing us to select you over other applicants.
Why you should consider this opportunity seriously:
competitive remuneration with possibility for growth, based on performance
it's not your usual boring sysadmin, customer support or network technician role
