We are seeking a highly organised and motivated Senior Project Officer to join our team, supporting the dynamic work of the ARC Indigenous Futures Centre. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to transformative research projects that empower Indigenous communities and prioritise Indigenous governance, leadership, and voices.
About the Role
As the Senior Project Officer, you will play a key role in managing the daily operations of a range of research initiatives. You will work under broad direction to ensure project timelines and deliverables are met, coordinate key communications, and support the effective delivery of events, training, and outreach activities. You will be the vital link between the research team, stakeholders, and broader community.
This is an Identified Position. As such, Aboriginality is considered a genuine occupational requirement under Section 50(d) of the Equal Opportunity Act 1984 (WA). Only applications from people of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent will be considered.
Key Responsibilities
- Liaise with key stakeholders including Indigenous communities, research partners, and funding bodies.
- Provide high-level administrative support across personnel, financial, travel, and research activity management.
- Coordinate project communications including newsletters, podcasts, webinars, websites, and event promotion.
- Prepare reports, budgets, compliance documentation, and progress updates in line with project requirements.
- Support the planning and delivery of internal and external events, training programs, and community engagements.
- Assist in organising travel and accommodation for project staff and visitors.
- Provide support and guidance to junior staff and team members.
- Other duties as required.
Key Requirements
- Relevant tertiary qualifications or equivalent experience.
- Proven experience in managing complex research projects and reporting requirements.
- Strong organisational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities under pressure.
- Demonstrated ability to work with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in ways that uphold self-determination, cultural safety, and respectful engagement.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to build strong stakeholder relationships.
- A high level of initiative, independence, and sound judgement.
- Proficiency in office software and digital communication tools (e.g. websites, email marketing, spreadsheets).
