Position Summary

The Accountant will be responsible for a wide range of accounting and financial management

tasks. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in maintaining the integrity of our

financial records, ensuring compliance with Australian regulations, and providing accurate

financial reports to support key business decisions. This is a hands-on role that requires a high

degree of accuracy, technical skill, and the ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities

● Financial Reporting: Preparation of monthly and year-end financial statements, including

Profit & Loss statements, Balance Sheets, and Cash Flow statements in accordance with

Australian Accounting Standards (AASB).

● General Ledger Management: Maintain the integrity of the general ledger, including

preparing and posting journal entries, performing account reconciliations, and managing

accruals and prepayments.

● Taxation & Compliance: Prepare and lodge Business Activity Statements (BAS), Fringe

Benefits Tax (FBT) returns, and payroll tax. Preparation of the annual income tax return

and liaising with the Australian Taxation Office (ATO) as required.

● Assist with Payroll Processing: Manage the end-to-end payroll function for our

employees, ensuring compliance with modern awards, superannuation guarantee

obligations, and other relevant legislation.

● Bank Reconciliation: Perform daily and monthly reconciliations of all company bank

accounts and credit card statements.

● Budgeting and Forecasting: Assist in the development of annual budgets and periodic

forecasts, providing variance analysis and commentary to management.

● Financial Analysis: Conduct financial analysis and generate ad-hoc reports to support

management decision-making and identify areas for process improvement.

Selection Criteria (Qualifications & Experience)

To be considered for this role, you must possess the following:

○ A Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Commerce, Finance, or a related field.

○ A minimum of 1-3 years of demonstrated experience in a similar accounting role within

an Australian business environment.

○ Proven experience with Australian Accounting Standards (AASB) and tax legislation

(including GST, FBT, and Payroll Tax).

○ High proficiency in accounting software such as Xero

○ Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of accuracy.

○ Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.

○ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
