Position overview

Are you passionate about quality, precision, and making sure things just work? At allnex, we're on the look out for a Quality Control Technician to join our dynamic team in Wacol QLD. In this role, you'll play a key part in ensuring our production plants run smoothly by testing in-process and finished products, assisting with raw material assessments, and helping release top-quality materials to our customers. You'll be hands-on in the Polyester Laboratory, supporting both the production floor and the lab to keep everything running efficiently, safely, and to the highest standards.

Responsibilities

As our Quality Control Technician, you'll be at the heart of our quality operations. Here's what your day-to-day will look like:

  • Batch testing and adjustments — Test and fine-tune material batches to meet exact specifications.
  • Lab support — Keep lab consumables stocked and organized so testing never skips a beat.
  • Sample management — Manage retain samples of both raw materials and finished products.
  • Product confirmation — Perform final QA verification tests before products head out the door.
  • Equipment care — Maintain, troubleshoot, and ensure smooth operation of lab equipment.
  • Housekeeping hero — Keep the lab clean, organized, and safe.
  • Lab operations — Start up and shut down the lab at the beginning and end of the production week.
  • Documentation & analysis — Complete testing processes, document results, and assist in product analysis.
  • Complaint investigation — Help look into and resolve customer complaints.
  • Safety & compliance — Always follow Allnex policies and procedures, along with OH&S (Occupational Health & Safety) regulations.

Required skills and experience

We're looking for someone who brings both technical know-how and a team spirit. You'll thrive in this role if you have:

  • 2–3 years of experience working in a lab or manufacturing environment.
  • Familiarity with quality systems like ISO 9001 and compliance with statutory operational requirements.
  • Ability to work effectively across departments and deliver on key performance indicators, particularly in quality and safety.
  • Strong Microsoft software skills (Excel, Word, SharePoint, Dynamics AX).
  • A keen eye for safety, with past experience contributing to a strong OHS (Occupational Health & Safety) culture.
  • Excellent teamwork and communication abilities — you enjoy working with others and building strong relationships.
  • Sharp attention to detail and the ability to analyze data, calculate adjustments, and understand test methods.

Qualifications

Here's what you'll bring to the table:

  • Completed Year 12 or higher, ideally with a Science or Engineering qualification from a recognized tertiary institution.
  • Grade 3 or equivalent under the current Wacol agreement.
