Northern Beaches State High School is seeking a passionate and innovative Head of Department - The Arts to lead our vibrant and creative faculty. This leadership role requires a forward-thinking educator with strong curriculum expertise, proven experience in driving high-quality teaching and learning, and a commitment to inclusive and culturally rich arts education.
This is a temporary full-time position commencing 22 January 2026 until 11 December 2026, unless otherwise determined. Northern Beaches State High School has grown to become the premier school of choice for parents and students in the rapidly growing Northern Beaches area of Townsville. Until the high school opened in 1997, students had been forced to go all the way into town to continue their secondary schooling, meaning long days travelling on buses.

About The Role
Responsibilities include, but not limited to;
- Provide visionary leadership to develop and sustain a shared educational vision focused on quality learning outcomes for all students.
- Promote equity and inclusion by embedding socially just practices and maintaining high standards for both staff and students.
- Drive professional excellence through active engagement in lifelong learning, mentoring, and ongoing professional development.
- Build strong partnerships with students, parents, colleagues, community organizations, and government agencies to enhance educational opportunities.
- Lead strategically and responsibly by managing departmental resources effectively, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation and policies, and planning for future growth.
