As Senior Procurement Specialist – 10 Month Max Term Contract, you will play a pivotal role in driving best-practice procurement strategies for high-value, high-risk categories across the organization. This position focuses on fostering strong partnerships with internal stakeholders to ensure the acquisition of goods and services is executed efficiently, cost-effectively, and in alignment with the strategic objectives of the National Heavy Vehicle Regulator (NHVR).

You will report directly to the Manager – Procurement and Contracts within NHVR's Corporate Services Division, contributing to the delivery of robust procurement outcomes that support operational excellence and regulatory effectiveness.

Key responsibilities of this role are:

  • Lead end-to-end procurement processes: sourcing, tendering, contract negotiation, supplier management.
  • Develop RFX documentation and risk strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with NHVR procurement governance, act as Probity Officer.
  • Liaise with legal services for procurement matters.
  • Advise stakeholders on sourcing and risk mitigation strategies.
  • Plan and deliver procurement initiatives on time.
  • Ensure purchases meet policy, cost, safety, and legislative standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement and strategic transformation of procurement.
  • Build strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Skills & Capabilities

  • Extensive procurement experience in complex organisations.
  • Expertise in high-risk, high-value tenders and contract management.
  • Strong supplier engagement and negotiation skills.
  • Proficiency in Vendor Panel, D365, and data analysis.
  • Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and customer service.
  • Strong project management, analytical, and organisational skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with integrity.

About You

To be successful in this role you will possess:

  • 7+ years in procurement roles.
  • Degree in Supply, Procurement, Business, Commerce, or similar.
  • Formal procurement qualifications (e.g., CIPS).
  • Advanced Microsoft Office skills.
  • Experience with modern procurement systems.

Highly Regarded:

  • Project Management experience.
  • IT category procurement.
  • Knowledge of cybersecurity, data governance, and IT architecture.
