QBuild is seeking qualified Plumbers to join our SEQ Teams. Become part of a department committed to helping people all over Queensland. Help us build and maintain government-owned assets, including schools, social housing, and healthcare facilities. Support in the government's response to disaster events and take a lead role in training the next generation of tradespeople.

QBuild is a commercialised business unit of the Queensland Government.  It has been Queensland Government's builder for over 160 years, playing an important role in communities across the state by building and maintaining government-owned assets such as schools, social housing, police stations and correctional and health facilities.

Mandatory Requirements

  • Eligibility to work in Australia
  • Current trade certificate/qualification (minimum of Certificate III in Plumbing)
  • Current Queensland Plumbing License
  • Current Construction Industry White Card
  • Current, valid Queensland "C" class driver's licence or equivalent
  • Working knowledge and compliance with current work health, safety and environmental legislation and codes of practice including knowledge and understanding of AS/NZ 3500 Plumbing and Drainage

About the role

You will play a pivotal role in supporting QBuild's ambition to strengthen Queensland's building and construction industry by providing essential services to government-owned assets, including construction, maintenance, and restoration. Support the government's response to disaster events and take a lead role in training the next generation of tradespeople.

Duties and skills involved:

  • Understand and carry out plumbing and drainage works, for both construction and maintenance services.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in office and email applications such as Microsoft Word or Outlook and input data using the computer or hand-held electronic devices.
  • Understand safe working methods in terms of asbestos and lead based products, and any other relevant high risk construction work.
  • Comply with all WHS legislation and site rules including daily task risk assessments, identify hazards and risk, and comply with reasonable health and safety policies or procedures that have been notified to workers.
  • Demonstrate personal responsibility for the health safety and wellbeing of yourself and ensure that your conduct, acts or omissions do not adversely affect the safety of other persons or property
  • Demonstrate behaviour that supports a diverse, equitable and safe workplace, with a strong customer focus.
  • Train, mentor and provide professional support to apprentices at all year levels.

Additional information

  • You may be required to undertake duties within your trade at worksites throughout both your appointed region and the State.
  • When undertaking distant work, there may also be a requirement for overnight stays of up to a 3 -week period.
  • Safety clothing and personal protective equipment (PPE) will be provided and must be worn.
  • You may be asked to undertake team leader and/or foreperson roles as and when required to suit the needs of the business.
  • Power tools will be provided where required.
  • The use of a private motor vehicle and/or potential provision of a QBuild vehicle will be in accordance with relevant motor vehicle policies. Please note there is no guarantee that a home garaged QBuild vehicle will be included if successful in gaining this role.
