Your role within Social and Affordable Housing Growth will support the department to lead the delivery of enhanced housing outcomes through an integrated approach to overall supply. The work you will do helps someone every day, and that means the world to us.
Through partnerships, The Social Housing Delivery Office provide and influence the provision of safe, secure, affordable, and appropriate housing to the people of Queensland, and the building of vibrant and connected precincts and communities in which they live.
The Principal Program Officer will lead development implementation of asset programs and initiatives - in line with agency and whole-of-government objectives, that support transition of the social housing portfolio to the clean energy economy.
What you will be doing:
- Driving the transition of social housing into the clean energy economy involves development and implementation of asset strategies, programs and initiatives, and harnessing internal and key partner support and expertise (eg Q Build, and Department of Energy and Climate) to set and achieve targeted climate, energy and sustainability improvements.
- Apply a project management methodology to develop an asset based operational program of work supporting the clean energy transition, including identifying appropriate governance (eg using existing, or assisting to adjust, or establish new, as required.
- Identify best practice and support integration of energy performance measures (eg for climate emission, energy efficiency, thermal comfort, and sustainability) into the department's asset appraisal and condition management system.
- Undertake analysis on energy solutions for the portfolio and provide feedback on implementation options and actions for inclusion into the Strategic Asset Management Plan, divisional operational and forward work programs (eg strengthening asset management by enhancing BIM, and circular economy approaches)
- Lead development and implementation of new or enhanced asset programs (eg the Social Housing Energy Performance Initiative) ensuing scope, planning, scheduling and procurement, performance objectives, reporting capability and other operating requirements are in place, including the ability for key activities and outcomes to be evaluated.
- Assess works for value for money and administer approval processes for projects in accordance with departmental financial delegations. Support the development and assessment of budget bids and proposals.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to secure support and input into project and program development and delivery.
- Produce and provide input into briefing notes and/or ministerial and media correspondence as required.
- Support and help maintain a workplace safety culture by ensuring that all policies and practices concerning Workplace Health and Safety are applied and are part of daily operations
