About You
We are looking for an experienced and versatile hospitality management professional who is confident in supporting an Operations Management team in leading successful, fast-paced venue operations and building strong relationships with both guests and colleagues. You will bring passion, creativity, and initiative to help drive the business forward, model impeccable standards of workplace behaviour & respect, and work to ensure staff are set up for success.
To be successful in this role you will be a mature, energetic, enthusiastic, and positive team player with a can-do attitude and a genuine passion for hospitality & people leadership. You will have contributed to "business building" activities and be comfortable stepping in to problem-solve when challenges arise, even without a set procedure to follow. You will assist in developing and refining processes where needed, and you'll understand how to foster and maintain a positive workplace culture by leading through example with respect, objectivity, clarity, and proactivity.
This role will be required to work a flexible work pattern involving both day and night shifts during both the week and the weekend, and on Public Holidays. If you love people, games, fun and a passionate work environment this job could be for you

About the Role
The Duty Manager is integral to the overall success of the business & our people. Reporting to the Venue Manager & Assistant Venue Manager, the primary duties of the Duty Manager are to support the oversight all operations relating to Fortress Sydney.
Your key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:
- Manage day-to-day venue operations at Fortress Sydney, ensuring smooth service, staff supervision, and exceptional guest experiences.
- Oversee key venue functions, including food & beverage, people & culture, maintenance, events, and marketing, within a rotating portfolio-based framework.
- Lead, train, and mentor Front of House teams to deliver operational excellence and uphold a positive, high-performance culture.
- Ensure compliance with OH&S, food safety, and liquor licensing standards, maintaining a safe and professional work environment.
- Monitor stock, venue readiness, and cleanliness to support both daily operations and events.
- Resolve guest issues promptly, safeguard company property, and promote continuous improvement through effective use of systems and procedures.

What You'll Bring
- 2-3+ years of demonstrated management experience in a fast-paced hospitality environment, preferably in a busy multi-section hospitality setting involving food and alcohol service
- Experience in managing teams of 50+ employees, and driving compliant processes and procedures around staff development, performance management and complaints handling
- Hold a current NSW Responsible Service of Alcohol Certificate, First Aid Certificate, and Employee-level Working With Children Check
- Formal hospitality qualifications will be an advantage
- A sound understanding of games culture and demographics will be an advantage
- Ability to understand, work with and deliver on budgets, forecasts & objective-based reporting
- Excellent negotiation and communication skills, both written and verbal, with highly developed interpersonal skills
- Advanced computer and system platform literacy
- Exceptional organisational, time management and people skills with the ability to work cross-functionally
- A professional standard of presentation with a friendly demeanour, an approachable attitude and a willingness to support other team members
- Ability to think quickly and problem-solve in a fast-paced environment
- Flexibility to work a variable roster around operational and business needs, including weekends and nights as required
