Your day as Associate Directors
The Policy and Budget group provides agency and portfolio advice, undertakes strategic reform, and delivers the state Budget. This group supports the NSW Government in making evidence-driven decisions, driving public sector performance, and maintaining strong public finances. The roles are within the Budget Division, which offers expert advice on the State's fiscal position and outlook, supports Treasury's engagement with key stakeholders, and manages key processes for the State Budget, including authoring chapters and appendices in Budget Papers.
As Associate Directors in the Budget Division, you will lead teams to provide expert advice on fiscal strategy, budget planning, and government policy matters. Your role involves delivering financial insights and recommendations to Treasury leadership and key stakeholders, managing the preparation and coordination of State Budget papers and related reports, and fostering collaboration within Treasury and across government agencies.

Achieve success as an Associate Director
In this integral role there are a few things we would like for you to have to best support yourself and add value to the people of NSW.
The ideal candidate should meet the following criteria:
- Forecasting and Analysis: Experience in financial and economic forecasting is highly regarded.
- High-Pressure Environments: Proven success in dynamic and innovative settings.
- Stakeholder Management: Strong communication and interpersonal skills for managing multiple stakeholders.
- Technical Communication: Ability to convey complex information clearly in various formats.
- Project Management: Experience in project management and collaborative teamwork.
- Public Sector Knowledge: Strong knowledge of public sector financial management, economics, or government policy, with an understanding of NSW Government's Prime system being desirable.
- Qualifications: Appropriate tertiary qualifications in accounting, finance, economics, public policy, or a related discipline.
