Legal Aid NSW delivers accessible legal services across criminal, family and civil law. We provide advice, court representation, and family dispute resolution through 28 offices and phone-based support, helping people navigate the legal system with confidence and fairness.

About the role

The Principal Project Manager is responsible for leading the delivery of transformative digital initiatives at Legal Aid NSW, with a focus on Artificial Intelligence, cloud platforms, and infrastructure. This is a high-impact role that drives innovation and strengthens the organisation's digital capability to better support staff and clients.

You'll work across ICT and business teams to deliver complex projects that align with Legal Aid's strategic priorities, ensuring outcomes are achieved on time, within budget, and with lasting value.

In this role, you will:

  • Lead the planning and delivery of digital transformation projects using agile and/or predictive approaches
  • Manage risks, budgets, governance, and stakeholder relationships across diverse teams
  • Facilitate workshops and collaboration to drive engagement and successful outcomes
  • Champion digital capability uplift and alignment with Legal Aid's strategic direction
  • Influence and support stakeholders to ensure adoption and long-term integration of change

About you

You are a highly capable and strategic project leader with a strong track record of delivering complex digital initiatives. You bring deep expertise in project governance, stakeholder engagement, and change management, and are confident navigating competing priorities to achieve results.

Your ability to lead cross-functional teams, manage expectations, and foster collaboration ensures consistent delivery aligned with Legal Aid NSW's strategic goals. You operate with autonomy, provide high-level advice to senior executives, and are skilled at resolving issues and driving innovation. Your leadership supports both the success of individual projects and the broader transformation of digital capability across the organisation.

The essential requirements for this role

You must:

  • be willing to do a Criminal Record Check
  • hold Australian or NZ citizenship, Australian Permanent Residency (for ongoing vacancies) or a valid visa to work in Australia (for temporary vacancies)
  • Possess relevant tertiary and/or professional qualifications in ICT or related discipline or significant demonstrated experience in Digital Program and/or Project Management
  • Experience in artificial intelligent platforms, applications and technology
