About the role
National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) has a unique opportunity for a Principal Project Officer to work as part of the team and contribute towards the conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna and Aboriginal heritage.
As the Principal Project Officer, you will lead a small team delivering on the planning and implementation of a range of works on lands that are planned for addition to the NPWS estate.
These include, but not limited to, fire trail upgrades, access and boundary fencing, conservation and restoration programs, threated species, pest and weed control actions, visitor infrastructure planning and upgrades, collaboration with our local First Nations communities, community and stakeholder engagement activities, and support the development of plans of management and masterplans for these new reserves.
About You
To be successful, the role is required to work collaboratively with a range of teams within NPWS, other government agencies and external stakeholders. You will need to be adaptable and flexible in managing competing priorities in a demanding work environment. Have excellent problem solving and critical thinking skills to develop and deliver on a program of works, as well as extensive experience in planning, implementing and managing projects. This includes the ability to work within governance arrangements in established planning and delivery frameworks.
Essential requirements
- Appropriate tertiary qualifications or demonstrated equivalent, relevant professional experience.
- Demonstrated project management skills and experience along with strong organisational skills to plan, manage and deliver multiple projects on time and within resources
- Thorough understanding and knowledge of financial, governance and risk management standards and practices associated with project management
