Assistant House Supervisor
Are you looking for a career step or a leadership position?
We are seeking an Assistant House Supervisor to join the team in providing quality care for young people in our residential care homes.
As an Assistant House Supervisor, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily care of young people, ensuring their safety, wellbeing, and development. You will step in to lead during times when the House Supervisor is not present and maintain a safe, healthy, and harmonious home environment.
Your key responsibilities will include guiding residential care workers, promote therapeutic care practices, and ensure the home runs smoothly. Strong leadership and the application of learned therapeutic techniques will be essential in delivering high-quality care and ensuring a positive, supportive atmosphere for young people.
We value leadership experience across industries. If you have led teams and navigated complex challenges your skills are highly transferable and welcomed. While prior experience in our specific industry is beneficial, it's not a requirement, what matters most is your ability to inspire and influence.
If you're ready to take on a leadership role and make a lasting impact, we'd love to hear from you
This is a full-time opportunity located in the beautiful town of Hamilton.
Our Offer:
- Hourly rate based on SCHADS Award Level 4 ($ $47.97), dependent on qualifications and experience.
- Salary packaging – we can help you maximise your salary packaging up to $18,550 per year, which allows you to reduce the amount of tax you pay.
- Fitness Passport – a discounted workplace health and fitness program available to you and your family, for a fraction of the cost of a regular gym membership.
- Paid training that is industry-specific, including Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI), Sanctuary, and Cultural Awareness training.
- Employee Assistance Program – free access to a wide range of support services covering social, financial, physical, and mental health needs, including counselling and coaching tailored to your circumstances, and health advice from qualified nutritionists.
- Sanctuary Organisation – MacKillop's work is underpinned by the Sanctuary Model. This model reinforces our ability to create a safe environment that teaches people to cope effectively with stress and trauma and to heal.
We are looking for you to have:
- Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values, and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people, and their families.
- A relevant diploma, including four (4) additional mandatory competencies (top-up units) is essential.
- Demonstrated ability to supervise, lead, and support a team.
- Proven ability to relate to and work with young people with social, emotional, and behavioural difficulties.
- Proven skills and experience in the development of behaviour management programs for children and adolescents with challenging behaviours (preferred but not essential).
- Experience and knowledge of the residential care field, particularly within a therapeutic environment (preferred but not essential).
Please address the full Key Selection Criteria outlined in the PD as part of your application.
You must have:
- A valid and current driver's licence
- A valid and current Working with Children Check
- A valid and current NDIS Worker Screening Check
- A satisfactory criminal history check
- Knowledge and understanding of Aboriginal culture and values, and an awareness of the current issues faced by Aboriginal children, young people, and their families
Please address the Key Selection Criteria outlined in the Position Description as part of your cover letter.
