About us
The primary function of the Office is to provide personal, administrative and logistical support which enables the Governor to perform constitutional, ceremonial and community duties.
The Office of the Governor is led by the Official Secretary and operates in five streams:
- Estate Management
- Programming and Communications
- Events and Engagement
- Hospitality and
- Corporate Services.
The Office manages the Governor's active program of engagement and hospitality and is committed to managing the Government House and Grounds as a significant cultural heritage asset for the community of Western Australia.
About the role
The role of the Ranger is to monitor the environment for the Governor and his family, staff and visitors on the Government House precinct using the surveillance, communication, emergency, and security systems.
Forming part of a team of five (5) rangers, the operations post is staffed 24 hours 7 days a week and the standard roster is based on an 8-hour shift that will flex to 12-hour shifts for leave coverage.
About you
Under the direction of the Senior Ranger, the successful candidate will:
- Provide high quality front-line customer service and support to the arrival and departure experience of all guests and visitors to Government House.
- Ensure the security of the site and all people within it.
- Monitor entry and egress of all personnel within Government House.
- Monitor CCTV to identify risks and detect signs of a security breach.
- Coordinate an expeditious response to any security breaches.
- Conduct general security related duties.
- Produce high quality written reports.
- Manage the visitor sign-in process.
- Act as a warden in emergency situations.
- Other general duties as directed by the Senior Ranger.
Selection Criteria (Essential)
- Current Driver's License.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively deal with people at all levels and from diverse backgrounds.
- Ability to multi-task and remain calm under pressure.
- Maintain a professional appearance and conduct.
- Physically fit to conduct required duties.
- Intermediate computer literacy.
- A minimum of 3 years customer service experience in the public or private sector.
Selection Criteria (Desirable)
- Experience in the operation of CCTV / building management / alarms preferred.
- Experience in security or law enforcements industries will be highly regarded.
