
Manager Environmental Services

As the Manager Environmental Services you will:
• Provide leadership to a multidisciplinary team through supervising, mentoring and peer review of team member's work.
• Provide leadership and strategic direction in the development and implementation of strategies and initiatives aligned to the mining rehabilitation reform agenda.
• Undertake workforce planning activities to monitor, review and evaluate team productivity, goal achievement and overall operational effectiveness and manage, coordinate, and allocate resources to accomplish deliverables and performance metrics.
• Manage, direct and monitor the operation of the team to ensure there are efficient and effective systems and processes in place to successfully ensure the timely
delivery of outcomes
• Manage and oversee complex policy and legislative analysis and interpretation for the preparation of advice, ministerial and executive correspondence, submissions,
publications, briefs, and other correspondence for significant, technically complex and/or contentious matters relating to environmental management.
• Develop strong collaborative strategic partnerships through consultation, negotiation and developing networks.
• Lead and actively participate in internal and intra-governmental meetings appropriately representing the department and its interests in the mining rehabilitation reform agenda.
• Ensure quality outcomes are achieved by making administrative decisions under relevant legislation, such as the Environmental Protection Act 1994, ensuring timely and lawful delivery of legislative assessments and approvals.
• Be responsible for the department's values including performance management, ethical behaviour, and sound decision making through coaching, mentoring, seeking
professional development opportunities and regularly communicating with staff. Foster a workplace culture that supports and promotes the interests of First Nations people and actively engage through our work to contribute to better outcomes for
First Nations people.
This position requires:
• Demonstrated team leadership and management skills including leading and prioritising project planning.
• Demonstrated high level strategic thinking, and proven ability to resolve complex issues.
• High level expertise and technical skills relevant to the assessment of environmental impacts of mining activities and application of relevant government policy and legislation with desirable expertise in mine site rehabilitation methodologies.
• Demonstrated experience in making and managing risk based administrative decisions on complex and/or controversial matters.
• Proven high-level communication and interpersonal skills including the possession of high quality written skills and capacity to advise, negotiate with influence, and consult on complex issues.
• Proven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, and to represent the Government's interest at local, State
and community and private sector meetings.
• Contribution to workplace equity and diversity that enriches our culture of safety, innovation, respect and inclusion.
