PURPOSE – why this role is important
One of AFLNT flagship initiatives are the Indigenous Programs delivered throughout the Northern territory. The Indigenous Programs team are spread throughout First Nations communities in remote, regional and urban locations delivering place-based programs and competitions to support healthy communities and positive social outcomes.
The
Indigenous Programs Operations Coordinator
plays a pivotal role in ensuring all programs are maintained and delivered in a timely and professional manner. This role works closely with the team based throughout First Nations communities to support the ongoing operations, administration and resourcing for the team.
This role requires a highly organised and energetic person who can manage multiple tasks at once throughout various locations. There are intermittent travel requirements to remote and regional locations to support staff, program outcomes and events when required.

Day in the life – what you will be responsible for
- Maintain up to date housing and vehicle databases for place-based staff.
- Maintain up to date resources for all place-based projects including safety gear and equipment, administration supplies and AFL gear and equipment.
- Support place-based staff with vehicle maintenance, servicing and management of fleet leases.
- Support staff with housing maintenance, upkeep and remote housing leases.
- Support with onboarding and offboarding to ensure all AFL property is allocated and maintained sufficiently.
- Support the financial management of the Indigenous Programs team.
- Manage credit card use through proper use of card, timely acquittals of receipts and ensure card security is not compromised.
- Manage AFL resource drives and distribution throughout staff in remote and regional communities.
- Support place-based staff with event planning and delivery of community activations.
- Manage and organise travel bookings and flights throughout the Northern Territory.
- Contribute to key projects within and outside of core role and support and contribute to the success of the broader team.
Must haves – what's needed to help you be successful?
- Demonstrated understanding of First Nations communities, preferably those in the Northern Territory.
- Highly organised and well-developed time management skills.
- Strong technical skills with various Microsoft programs and ability to develop and manage databases.
- Ability to engage and communicate with a wide range of stakeholders throughout various settings and locations.
- Ability to collate, summarise and share information effectively to colleagues.
- Experience working with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and communities.
- Outcomes focused approach and ability to complete tasks in a timely manner and to a high standard.
- Ability to travel to remote and regional communities for program and event support for place-based staff.
