At AusNet, we are at the centre of Victoria's energy transformation—connecting renewable energy sources to the grid and delivering reliable transmission infrastructure that powers communities. Our Transmission Project Development team plays a vital role in shaping the future of energy by planning and enabling major infrastructure projects that support the clean energy transition.
Purposeful work with genuinely good people. That is refreshing.
We are seeking a Project Manager – Development to lead the early-stage planning and development of transmission projects, with a strong focus on providing critical inputs to business case development.
You will play a key role in shaping project scope, timelines, and feasibility—ensuring each initiative is strategically aligned and set up for long-term success. You will collaborate across multidisciplinary teams and stakeholders to deliver quality outcomes.
If you thrive on solving complex challenges, influencing strategic decisions, and collaborating across diverse teams, this role offers the perfect platform to make a meaningful difference—for customers, communities, and the environment.
With a Hybrid working arrangement, this role is based in Southbank and is part of the Project Delivery team within the Transmission line of business.
This role will deliver real outcomes, including but not limited to:
- Lead, plan, and manage the delivery of strategic initiatives and projects across the project development lifecycle
- Provide key inputs to business case development, including support for scope definition, cost estimation, risk identification, and scheduling
- Deliver project schedules, milestones, and deliverables with business objectives and within regulatory requirements
- Apply proactive risk management practices to safeguard timelines, budgets, and outcomes
- Conduct project health checks and provide clear, actionable recommendations
- Ensure customer needs, community expectations, and environmental outcomes are embedded in project design and delivery
- Build strong, trust-based relationships across AusNet divisions and with external stakeholders
What we're looking for:
- Demonstrated experience in electricity transmission or energy infrastructure development (preferred)
- Proven ability to build collaborative relationships across internal teams and external stakeholders
- Demonstrated success in delivering complex projects to time, budget, quality, and safety standards
- Strong capability in contributing to business case inputs and supporting strategic investment decisions
- Commitment to safety, sustainability, and community outcomes
- Excellent communication, report writing, and presentation skills
- Effective interpersonal, negotiating and facilitating skills
- Tertiary qualifications in Project Management, Engineering, Business, or equivalent
- Certification with the Australian Institute of Project Management (preferred)
A real place to belong.
We celebrate unique voices, refreshing perspectives and diversity in our team. Engage and connect through our social club, family day, wide range of events or by joining one of our Employee Network Groups.
We believe in more than just competitive pay. Here's what sets us apart:
- Flexibility: whether this is hybrid work, flexible hours, or part time arrangements, we'll work with you to help balance work and life.
- Leave: more than typical personal leave and a generous 14 weeks of paid parental leave, with no minimum service.
- Community giving: a paid day to volunteer with our social impact partner, Foodbank, or for a cause that matters to you.
- Perks: we offer all the other perks you've come to expect like purchased leave, income protection insurance, novated leasing, corporate discounts, private health cover discounts and more.
As an industry in transformation, we're excited by the possibilities ahead.
So, if you are passionate about our purpose and committed to making real progress, bring your energy and join AusNet. Together, we can shape a new way forward.
