About the Role

A BA Application Specialist is a hybrid role that combines Business Analysis (BA) with application support and management. It ensures that business applications meet user needs, function efficiently, and align with company objectives.

Reporting to the CIO you will be responsible for:

Business Analysis & Requirements Gathering

• Work with stakeholders to identify business needs and translate them into application requirements.
• Assess business requirements against current application capabilities.

Application Management & Support

• Ensure smooth operation, maintenance, and optimization of business applications including system upgrades, patches, and enhancements.
• Troubleshoot and resolve application issues in collaboration with IT team members.
• Ensure data integrity, reliability, performance and effective utilization of business applications, integration and reporting solutions.

Process Improvement & Automation

• Identify inefficiencies in business processes and propose application-based solutions.
• Work on workflow automation using application features or integrations.
• Support digital transformation initiatives.

Testing & Quality Assurance

• Assist in User Acceptance Testing (UAT) and ensure application changes meet business requirements.
• Manage escalation of application and data issues to appropriate resources or vendors.
• Root cause analysis to understand or prevent performance problems and issues causing outages within systems.

Training & User Support

• Train end users on new application features or changes.
• Create user manuals, FAQs, and support documentation.
• Act as the point of contact for application-related queries.
• Knowledge management across the IT Team to ensure ability to troubleshoot, investigate and control IT system issues.

Stakeholder & Vendor Management

• Liaise between business users, IT teams, and external vendors.
• Support vendor selection and manage software contracts/licenses.
• Ensure third-party applications comply with business and security requirements.

About you

To be successful in this role you will have worked in a retail environment and understand the core retail concepts.

You have in-depth technical experience in similar environments and can demonstrate knowledge in at least our mandatory tech stack requirements.

You will have excellent stakeholder management and engagement capabilities and the ability to communicate with others with varying levels of technical understanding/knowledge.

Experience required:

• 3+ years IT related experience in implementing and managing business systems either as an external software supplier of internal IT specialist.
• Sound knowledge in either programming, Database administration or reporting and analytics
• Demonstrated knowledge and operational experience of:
• Customer facing technologies including point of sale, payment providers & eCommerce sites
• Integration middleware for connecting retail systems using middleware solutions, traditional file based, or modern API based integrations.
