Join a high-performing Defence technology team delivering a Software Defined Infrastructure (SDI) capability across multiple secure environments.

As a Developer, you'll work closely with infrastructure and platform engineers to design, develop, and integrate automation code that connects third-party hardware and software into a unified, scalable infrastructure platform.

This role is ideal for engineers experienced with Python, Ansible, and CI/CD pipelines, who enjoy tackling complex technical challenges in secure, mission-critical environments.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and implement Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC) components using Python and Ansible
  • Integrate third-party network, compute, and storage technologies into a software-defined data centre
  • Collaborate with the Chief Engineer and infrastructure squads to plan and deliver system integration
  • Develop and maintain detailed software, system, and process documentation
  • Contribute to code reviews, test-driven development (TDD), and CI/CD pipelines using GitLab
  • Support continuous improvement and participate in Agile delivery practices
Skills & Experience
  • Experience with Python programming ideally in a defence secure environment
  • Strong Ansible skills, including module extension and automation
  • Background in network device management and performance analysis
  • Experience with CI/CD pipelines, test-driven development, and code reviews
  • Exposure to Software Defined Infrastructure (SDI) projects
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to solve complex integration problems
Desirable
  • Ansible Network Device Automation experience
  • Exposure to AWS, Azure, or hybrid cloud environments
  • Full Stack or Platform Engineering experience
  • Familiarity with network and security monitoring platforms (e.g. Splunk, Grafana, Prometheus)
  • Experience working below the line in multi-vendor Defence programs
  • Agile delivery background
  • Current OSA and previously held OSA clearances are highly advantageous
