A key focus of the coming years will be working with the State and Federal Governments to establish Melbourne Airport Rail; to complete redevelopment of Sunshine and Albion Stations; and the realisation of the Sunshine Precinct Masterplan which will Sunshine transformed into a CBD, vastly increasing local jobs, housing, businesses, services and tourism to provide for the many tens of thousands of people living, working and travelling through the Brimbank.

We are currently seeking a Full Time Fixed Term staff member to join our team based at our offices in Sunshine.

The role

Reporting to the Social Policy Planning Officer, we are seeking a Full Time employee who can bring their skills and experience for:

  • Coordinating responses to rough sleeping and homelessness
  • Establishing service partnerships that support system improvement and advocacy.
  • Facilitate interdepartmental responses to complex homelessness-related cases
  • Accompany council officers to engage with the public and people experiencing homelessness when required
  • Liaise with Victoria Police, health, homelessness and housing services to coordinate responses

To be considered you will have:

  • Local government experience is desirable
  • Tertiary qualification in Social Work, Youth Work, Community Services, or a related discipline, or certification in housing and homelessness support
  • Knowledge of the Victorian homelessness service system, including referral pathways and housing support options.
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practice, mental health, substance use, and family violence issues as they relate to homelessness.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively with a range of service providers and stakeholders in a culturally safe and person-centred manner.
