As the Claims Manager – Pleasure Craft, you will lead a high-performing team responsible for managing marine insurance claims, with a focus on the Pleasure Craft portfolio. This is a strategic leadership role that combines technical claims expertise, regulatory oversight, and people development. You will drive operational excellence, ensure compliance with industry standards (including GICOP), and foster a culture of continuous improvement and customer-first service.

Job Requirements

What You will Bring

  • Proven experience managing a claims team, ideally within marine or Pleasure Craft insurance
  • Strong knowledge of insurance regulations and compliance standards (e.g. GICOP, AFCA)
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to lead quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Tertiary qualifications in insurance, business, or a related field (or equivalent experience) preferred
  • A collaborative leadership style and a commitment to team development
  • High attention to detail, analytical thinking, and sound decision-making skills

Job Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and mentor a team of marine claims professionals, ensuring high performance and engagement
  • Oversee the end-to-end management of Pleasure Craft claims, including complex and high-value cases
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory frameworks (e.g. GICOP, AFCA) and internal service standards
  • Implement quality assurance processes, conduct file audits, and drive continuous improvement
  • Resolve escalated customer and broker issues with professionalism and empathy
  • Analyse claims trends and performance data to inform decision-making and process enhancements
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to support audits, training, and risk management initiatives
  • Promote a positive, inclusive, and accountable team culture aligned with NM Insurance values
