About the role

Uniting WA provides a range of programs that support men exiting prison to successfully reintegrate into the community and adopt positive lifestyles.

The Senior Case Worker (SRS) provides individualised psycho-social support and case management to men who are coming to the end of their prison sentences and continue to support them reintegrate into the community for up to 2 years.

The successful applicant will work intensively with individuals who may have intellectual disabilities, or who are serving mandated sentences, both while they are still in custody and once they are released.

This is a full-time max term contract ending August 2026

About you

To be successful you will need to demonstrate:

  • Uniting's values (being bold and respectful, compassionate and imaginative) and be willing to work within a very close-knit positive and supportive team
  • A positive and contemporary attitude towards reintegration
  • Knowledge and experience working with individuals with cognitive impairments and an ability to work with men who may have become institutionalised through long terms of imprisonment
  • Ability to work with those who have experienced significant trauma
  • Excellent communication, case management, administration, and interpersonal skills
  • A relevant qualification (e.g., Social Work, Psychology, Social Sciences, Community Services) or substantial progress towards a qualification and/or relevant experience are required.
  • A strong commitment to work with people from culturally diverse backgrounds

A valid WA driver's licence, national police clearance (dated within the last 6 months or the ability to obtain one) as well as the ability to obtain a prison clearance are mandatory for this position.
