The Queensland Revenue Office (QRO) is seeking applications to fill a permanent AO6 Senior Investigations Officer – Complex role in Brisbane.

In this role, you will be making complex determinations, and/or conducting and leading complex audits and investigations, in relation to taxpayers' compliance with Queensland's revenue laws. You will be using a risk-based revenue management approach to ensure compliance with tax obligations and legislation administered by QRO, you will be involved in identifying risks to revenue and making recommendations for the treatment of those risks, and you will provide a leadership role within the division as a coach/mentor.

Queensland Revenue Office (QRO) is seeking applications to fill a permanent AO6 Senior Investigations Officer - Complex role in Brisbane. This vacancy exists within the Duties & Grants division, which is responsible for managing essential client services to support the delivery of $5.4B in duty revenue for the state including transfer  and insurance duty assessments, administration of grants, registration and support to our self-assessor and approved agents, and compliance activities to manage revenue risks.

In this role, you will be making complex determinations, and/or conducting and leading complex audits and investigations, in relation to taxpayers' compliance with Queensland's revenue laws. You will be using a risk-based revenue management approach to ensure compliance with tax obligations and legislation administered by QRO, you will be involved in identifying risks to revenue and making recommendations for the treatment of those risks, and you will provide a leadership role within the division as a coach/mentor.

Your typical day as a Senior Investigations Officer - Complex may include:

• Speaking or corresponding with self assessors in relation to audits and investigations.

• Reviewing and analysing data and policies to assess risk and determine whether registered self assessors have complied with their obligations and correctly assessed their insurance duty liabilities.

• Writing statutory notices, case plans, and case reports.

• Collaborating with peers and briefing supervisors.

• Contributing to risk assessment for case selection and identifying legislative, policy, and process improvements

To be successful in this role you will need experience in:

• Audit and/or investigation roles in a financial or tax environment

• Analysing, interpreting and applying legislation

• Taking ownership of your own development and growth and

• Applying your knowledge and skills to solve problems collaboratively

There are no mandatory qualifications for the role, however relevant qualifications are highly regarded (e.g. accounting, business, tax, law, data analytics).
