Job description:

Commissioner of NSW Crime Commission

  • Total Remuneration Payable $534,435
  • Statutory Term Appointment up to 5 years

About the NSW Crime Commission

The NSW Crime Commission is a statutory body established under the Crime Commission Act 2012 (NSW). It plays a critical role in combating serious and organised crime across the state, working closely with the NSW Police Force and other law enforcement agencies. The Commission investigates complex criminal activity including illicit drug trade, terrorism, money laundering, identity and cybercrime, and serious firearms offences. It also pursues the proceeds of crime using advanced financial analysis and forensic accounting techniques.

Governed by a Management Committee comprising senior representatives from key justice and law enforcement bodies, the Commission is empowered to use coercive powers to assist in solving serious offences. A core function is to gather admissible evidence for prosecution and provide it to the Director of Public Prosecutions. The Commissioner is a statutory appointment under the Act and is responsible for ensuring the Commission operates with integrity, transparency, and in accordance with its legislative mandate.

About the role

This is a unique opportunity to lead the NSW Crime Commission as Commissioner, driving strategic direction and operational excellence in the fight against serious and organised crime. You will be responsible for managing the Commission's resources, overseeing complex investigations, and facilitating the confiscation of criminal assets.

The role requires ethical use of special powers, collaboration with partner agencies, and compliance with legislative and governance frameworks. You will foster a high-performing, corruption-resistant culture and report annually to Parliament.
