About the Opportunity

Are you ready to shape the future of data in insurance? We're looking for a
Data Lead
to drive the design, architecture, and delivery of our next-generation data platform as we undergo a major core system transformation. This is a hands-on leadership role where you'll architect scalable solutions, lead a talented team, and enable cutting-edge analytics, AI, and reporting capabilities across the business.

You'll directly contribute to the platform's architecture, roadmap, and implementation. You'll be at the heart of how data is collected, stored, governed, and used while driving real business value and empowering smarter decisions across Actuarial, Finance, Claims, Product, Fraud, and more.

What You'll Be Responsible For

Design & Architecture

• Contribute to the end-to-end design of a cloud-native data platform using lakehouse principles (e.g., Delta Lake on ADLS)
• Define architecture for data ingestion, transformation, storage, and access across raw, silver, and gold layers
• Align platform design with business use cases across multiple domains

Delivery & Implementation

• Lead data migration and integration of legacy and modern platforms
• Onboard new data sources and enforce standards for pipeline design, metadata, documentation, and modelling
• Oversee technical choices including tools, frameworks, formats, and orchestration

Leadership & Team Management

• Manage and mentor a team of data engineers and contractors
• Collaborate with stakeholders across business, IT, and external partners
• Act as the bridge between business needs and technical implementation

Data Governance & Quality

• Partner with Data Governance, IT Security, and Risk teams to embed governance, privacy, and quality practices
• Ensure proper handling of structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data including documents, images, and telematics

Enable Analytics, AI & Reporting

• Deliver core datasets for dashboards, financial reporting, and operational insights
• Build models and marts for reconciliation, fraud detection, claims analysis, pricing, and customer insights
• Support predictive models (e.g., churn, fraud scoring, claims triage) and integrate outputs into operational systems
• Contribute to semantic layers, feature stores, and self-service analytics frameworks

What You'll Bring

• 7+ years in data engineering or architecture, ideally in insurance or financial services
• Deep expertise in Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2, Data Factory, and Synapse Analytics
• Strong hands-on skills in SQL, Python, and data modelling
• Proven experience designing and delivering lakehouse architectures
• Previous experience in a leadership role overseeing the development and implementation of a new cloud-based data platform
• Bonus: Familiarity with Insurance platforms, AI/ML platforms, image/sensor data, and data governance tools like Microsoft Purview
• Experience with data migration, legacy system integration, and evolving schemas
• Excellent communication skills and ability to engage with business, technical, and executive stakeholders
