About Great River City Light Rail
Western Sydney is one of the fastest growing regions in our country, with the population of Greater Parramatta alone set to climb by 50 per cent by 2041 and at Great River City Light Rail we want to create new communities, connect great places and help locals and visitors move around and explore what the region has to offer. The new Light Rail will connect Westmead to Carlingford via the Parramatta CBD and Camellia, spanning 12 kilometres and utilising state-of-the-art vehicles that delivers comfortable, user-friendly and high-performance services. By 2026, around 28,000 people will use Parramatta Light Rail every day and an estimated 130,000 people will be living within walking distance of light rail stops.
The role
The Signalling and Communication technician will be responsible for performing corrective and preventive maintenance activities on Parramatta Light Rail Assets.
With the opportunity to work on the newest light rail network in the country, you will:
- Install, test and commission of signalling and communication equipment including point machines, axle counters, signals, tram control systems, scada, DCN switches, CCTV, WIFI / Tetra
- Conduct routine inspections and preventative maintenance to ensure the integrity and reliability of signalling and communication infrastructure.
- Troubleshoot and diagnose faults in signalling and communication systems, utilising technical expertise and diagnostic tools to identify and rectify issues promptly.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to implement signalling and communication upgrades and modifications, adhering to industry standards and regulatory requirements.
What You Bring
We are seeking Technicians that either hold of Cert IV in Rail Signalling or Certificate III in Electrotechnology / Unrestricted Electrician licence, supported by rail signalling experience. Your high-level problem-solving skills will allow you to manage difficult situations including responding to emergencies and restoring assets after incidents. This will be supported by the ability carry out asset inspections and undertake fault finding and ensure asset reliability. Equally important is the ability to engage and build effective working relationships both internally and externally.
