The role
Lead as the Finance Manager and work alongside the CEO to drive performance, deliver sharp insights, and shape the company's next chapter.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the finance team, including AP and Payroll, fostering a collaborative and accountable culture.
- Prepare monthly management and project reports, including P&L, balance sheet, cash flow, WIP, and project-specific reporting.
- Develop KPI reporting, analyse variances, and provide actionable financial insights to senior leadership.
- Drive budgeting, costings, labour/utilization reporting, and resource optimisation.
- Streamline reporting processes, support automation initiatives (Excel macros, Power BI, ERP), and maintain documentation of procedures.
- Ensure compliance with Australian accounting standards, statutory obligations, payroll, BAS, and superannuation.
- Provide audit support, assist with schedules, and manage debt recovery processes.
- Collaborate with operations and leadership to explain financial results, recommend improvements, and support decision-making.
What we are looking for:
- CA/CPA qualified or equivalent relevant working experience.
- 5+ years' experience in financial reporting, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role.
- Strong understanding of project/construction accounting and related principles.
- Sound knowledge of accounting principles, reporting frameworks, and compliance requirements.
- Hands-on experience with P&L analysis, cash flow management, journal entries, expense reallocations, and balance sheet reconciliations.
- Advanced Excel skills, with experience in reporting and data analysis.
- Experience using ERP systems to streamline processes and reporting.
- High attention to detail, strong organisational skills, and ability to manage multiple priorities.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and team collaboration skills.
