Overview

We are seeking an experienced, proactive, and motivated professional with strong clerical skills to join our team in a full-time capacity. This role will be split between providing support at our ECU Psychological Services Centre and delivering general administrative assistance at our Joondalup campus. Responsibilities will include finance, human resources, student and client support, and other related administrative tasks that contribute to the smooth operation of the School of Arts and Humanities.

The Role

The primary role of the School Officer is to perform routine administrative and other support functions for the school. They are the first point of contact for answering queries related to the administration of the school and its staff. When required, School Officers perform many other tasks that lie outside of their daily role in order to support school operations.

Each School Officer will usually have a core job and predominant skill. They should also understudy other team members at the same and/or the next highest level for the purposes of training, ability to provide absence coverage and to develop additional competencies required for further career development.

Reporting to the Team Leader – School Business Support, this position is ideal for someone who is self-motivated, excels in a dynamic environment, and collaborates effectively within a supportive team setting.

Selection Criteria

The successful candidate will have:

  • Demonstrated experience in providing high-quality administrative support across diverse areas such as finance, human resources, student services, and client liaison, preferably within a university or health-related setting.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to respond professionally and empathetically to a broad range of stakeholders, including students, staff, and clients, particularly in a front-line service environment.
  • Proficiency in a range of administrative systems and software, including Microsoft Office and enterprise platforms (e.g. finance, HR, or student systems), with an ability to quickly learn new tools and processes.
  • Proven ability to work independently and as part of a team, showing initiative, sound judgment, and a proactive approach to problem-solving and supporting operational needs beyond routine duties when required.
  • Demonstrated capacity to manage competing priorities, maintain attention to detail, and deliver timely and accurate outcomes in a fast-paced, client-focused environment.
  • Commitment to ongoing learning and team development, including a willingness to understudy colleagues, support cross-training efforts, and contribute to continuous service improvement and coverage planning.

Organisational Context

You will work in a supportive environment as a member of the School's Administration Team, reporting to the Team Leader. On a day-to-day basis, you will collaborate closely with academic and professional colleagues in the School, as well as external stakeholders. You will often interact with other schools and central university services to ensure seamless administrative operations. A key component of your role will also involve providing frontline administrative support at the ECU Psychological Services Centre, assisting with client coordination, scheduling, and operational processes to support the Centre's vital work within the community.

Benefits & Remuneration

This ongoing, full time position attracts a full-time salary of $74,435 to $79,279 pa plus 17% University superannuation contribution.
