Our business creates hands-on educational products & resources that spark wonder across Australia. We're expanding and are seeking a highly skilled Product Design Assistant to join our small, creative team on a casual basis.

Position Overview

As the Product Design Assistant, you will:

  • Work under guidance as part of the product team, supporting the transition from concept to manufacturable product.
  • Produce precise technical design files such as laser cuts, die-cuts, and prototypes, ensuring accuracy and feasibility for production.
  • Create clear instructional diagrams and build drawings using Adobe Illustrator, helping children and educators follow each step with ease.
  • Contribute animation skills to support our educational videos and digital resources, bringing concepts to life in engaging and accessible ways.
  • Provide flexible support across projects, stepping in where extra hands are needed to keep the pipeline moving.

Bring a detail-oriented approach that complements the creative flair of the wider team, ensuring our products are both beautifully presented and technically sound.

Essential Skills & Attributes

  • Excellent Adobe Illustrator proficiency - confident in creating complex, production-ready files.
  • Experience/ understanding of using, cleaning and maintaining an X-Tool laser cutter.
  • Ability to operate a Cricut machine for precision cutting (not vital to apply).
  • Exceptionally organised and dependable, with strong follow-through and the ability to manage multiple projects.
  • Impeccable attention to detail and a professional, diligent work ethic.
  • A proactive, problem-solving mindset and willingness to learn new techniques.

Job Type: Casual

Pay: Up to $33.96 per hour

Expected hours: 8 – 20 per week

Ability to commute/relocate:

  • Seaforth NSW 2092: Reliably commute or planning to relocate before starting work (Preferred)

Experience:

  • Adobe Illustrator: 1 year (Required)

Willingness to travel:

  • 100% (Required)
