Primary objective
Support operational excellence by driving governance and compliance activities and related projects through providing
strategic advice, analysing data, shaping policy and leading process improvements.
Context statement
The Public Guardian and Trustee (PGT) delivers services in adult guardianship, estate administration, trust management,will-
making, and the registration and storage of wills and Advance Personal Plans. This role supports policy development,
compliance and project delivery, and helps address emerging issues to advance the PGT's strategic goals.
Key duties and responsibilities
1. Drive the development and refinement of governance structures, policy, performance and risk frameworks across the
PGT - delivering strategic insights and strengthening integrity across operations.
- Contribute to organisational goals and planning by gathering data, supporting performance measures and undertaking
analytics and reporting tasks to drive quality improvement and track project outcomes.
3. Assist in researching, developing and maintaining policies to assist the PGT to meet legislative compliance obligations.
4. Monitor emerging issues and support the implementation of policy responses based on knowledge of relevant legislation
and operational practices.
5. Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to support a collaborative and outcome-based approach to
governance, project delivery, quality assurance and risk management requirements.
6. Assist in preparing briefing papers, reports, and other materials on sensitive or confidential topics.
7. Provide secretariat support for the PGT governance, risk and quality related meetings and committees, including
coordinating agendas, preparing meeting materials, recording minutes, and tracking follow-up actions to ensure effective
governance, accountability and improvement planning.
Selection criteria
Essential
1. Understanding of governance principles, frameworks and risk management, with the ability to apply these in practice to
support transparency, accountability and effective decision-making.
2. Experience contributing to policy development and providing project support, including planning, monitoring progress.
Reporting and engaging with or influencing stakeholders.
- Ability to support quality assurance activities by applying research, analysis and data skills, including the use of reporting
tools to inform evidence-based improvements.
4. Familiarity with strategic and business planning processes, with experience contributing to performance monitoring,
progress tracking or organisational reporting.
5. Skilled in translating complex information into clear, actionable insights for diverse audiences and decision-makers.
6. Demonstrated commitment to integrity, accountability and teamwork, with the ability to work effectively in a high-
performing team and contribute to organisational improvement.
7. Ability to manage competing priorities and adapt to shifting demands, with an understanding of the importance of
culturally responsive services, particularly when working with Aboriginal people and diverse communities.
Desirable
1. Tertiary qualifications in a related discipline such as governance, project, business or risk management, policy or law.
