About DJAS Architecture
DJAS Architecture is a national, award-winning design practice with studios in Canberra, Armidale and Brisbane. For more than three decades, we've contributed to shaping cities and communities across Australia. From designing inclusive workplaces and housing innovation to education, health, and civic design, our portfolio reflects a commitment to creating meaningful, impactful and sustainable design.
We're a team of highly capable, collaborative professionals who take pride in our work, bringing together architects and interior designers who deliver creative, people-centred solutions in the built environment.
The Opportunity
We're seeking a Project Lead or Senior Interior Designer to take a central role in delivering complex workplace and interior projects from concept through to completion. You'll guide design development, coordinate across disciplines and uphold quality through documentation and delivery.
Working closely with clients and consultants, you'll help shape briefs, lead presentations, and contribute to the design direction of projects that reflect DJAS's reputation for high-quality design. Depending on experience, you'll also mentor junior designers and contribute to the ongoing development of our interiors capability.
About You
You'll bring strong design and technical skills, sound judgement and the ability to see a project through from concept to completion.
You communicate clearly, manage competing priorities calmly, and work well as part of a supportive, professional team.
Revit proficiency is mandatory for these roles, including high-quality documentation.
Project Lead (Interior Design) - 4+ years
- End-to-end delivery of interiors or substantial project packages within Australia
- Coordination with consultants across services, structure, and fit-out
- Organised approach to time, scope, and project risk.
Senior Interior Designer - 7+ years
- Leadership of large, multi-stakeholder workplace projects
- Mentoring and review of junior team members
- Demonstrated experience presenting to executive-level clients and guiding design decisions.
Desirable
- Experience with government procurement processes
- Knowledge of WELL / Green Star design principles
- Enscape or similar 3D visualisation experience
- Contract administration experience
- Additional studies in architecture, project management or sustainable design certifications will be highly regarded.
How We Work
Hybrid work is standard at DJAS, with flexibility agreed within project teams. We maintain formal QA on all documentation packages, and our core tools include Revit, Bluebeam and Adobe CC. We support professional development through memberships, CPD and structured career pathways.
What Success Looks Like
Within 6-12 months, you'll be leading projects with confidence - your documentation is coordinated, your clients trust your judgement, and your team benefits from your guidance. The work you deliver reflects the precision and discipline that define DJAS projects.
What We Offer
- Competitive salary (commensurate with experience) + superannuation
- Support for professional development and paid memberships
- A collaborative, respectful, and design-focused studio culture where your contribution is valued
- Flexibility that supports balance between work and life.
Please note that Australian citizenship is required due to project security requirements, and that visa sponsorship is not available.
How to Apply
We're looking for applicants who can demonstrate their role in both design and documentation. Please send a single PDF including:
- Two or three completed projects, with your role clearly annotated
- One technical documentation set (Revit)
- A brief sample of FF&E or specification work.
Include a short note on your availability and work rights.
Applications will be reviewed as they are received. Shortlisted candidates will be invited to an initial conversation, followed by a portfolio discussion and interview.
