Project Test Lead

We're seeking an experienced Project Test Lead to support major Defence programs involving the sustainment, optimisation, and uplift of enterprise ICT systems that underpin strategic decision-making across Defence.

You will be responsible for leading a multi-skilled Commonwealth test team delivering an enterprise APIM platform within a hybrid cloud environment. Working closely with engineering, architecture, and delivery teams, you will oversee testing governance, verification and validation activities, and quality assurance across complex Defence systems. This position ensures the program's integration and API management capability is tested effectively, securely, and in alignment with Defence frameworks.

• Lead a Commonwealth multi-disciplinary testing team delivering an enterprise APIM capability across AWS, Azure, and on-premises systems.
• Provide Test & Evaluation (T&E) oversight, governance, and alignment with Defence architectural and technical standards.
• Translate high-level program objectives into actionable test plans incorporating risk, issue, and dependency management.
• Manage day-to-day testing resources, ensuring consistent quality standards throughout the delivery lifecycle.
• Act as the primary interface between the testing team and engineering teams, providing expert technical guidance.
• Plan, coordinate, and execute design testing, system testing, integration testing, and acceptance testing activities.
• Apply appropriate T&E and V&V methodologies, measures, and metrics throughout the test program.

• Minimum 3 years leading application-delivery test teams, ideally within API platforms and API test automation.
• Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) and software testing lifecycle (STLC).
• Demonstrated experience with automation frameworks.
• Hands-on experience validating REST and SOAP APIs using industry-standard test tools.

• Strong verbal and non-verbal communication skills, able to engage technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Understanding of Systems Engineering principles and frameworks.
• Experience with MuleSoft Anypoint or similar API management technologies.

• NV1 security clearance (minimum); NV2 preferred.
• ITAR compliance required due to access to export-controlled ICT products.
• Access to Defence systems (DPN/DSN), DCACs, and Defence premises will be provided under the S&Q Order.
• Any travel or accommodation expenses must be pre-approved under Commonwealth guidelines.
• Contract duration: ASAP to 30 June days).
• Locations: Canberra, ACT or Melbourne, VIC.
