The role
The Transaction Manager plays a key role in supporting the Office of Strategic Lands by managing complex land acquisition projects that contribute to government priorities such as open space, infrastructure, transport, and environmental outcomes. Working closely with senior managers and a range of stakeholders, the role ensures that land transactions are delivered efficiently, strategically, and with strong fiscal accountability.
You'll take ownership of coordinating acquisition activities across the Sydney region, preparing high-quality reports and briefings, and maintaining productive relationships with stakeholders. With a focus on continuous improvement and strategic planning, you'll help drive the long-term land program while navigating competing priorities, complex technical information, and high-profile matters that require sound judgement and clear communication.

What you will bring to the role
- Strong negotiation and stakeholder engagement skills to build trust, influence outcomes, and resolve complex land acquisition matters, and experience in transactions in compliance with the Land Acquisition (Just Terms Compensation) Act.
- Sound understanding of property, planning, and government legislation, with the ability to interpret and communicate technical issues clearly and effectively.
- Demonstrated experience managing high-value acquisition programs, contracts, and consultants with professionalism, accountability, and fiscal responsibility.
- Proactive problem-solving skills and the ability to prioritise competing demands in a high-pressure, politically sensitive environment.
- Commitment to continuous improvement, teamwork, and delivering strategic outcomes that align with government priorities.
What is an essential requirement:
- Degree or equivalent in valuation, land economy, planning, environmental management or other relevant discipline.
