As the steward for digitally enabling Australia's health system, the Agency plays a key role in coordinating national engagement, delivery, and adoption of digital health to facilitate person-centred, connected healthcare. Our responsibilities span national digital health services and systems, including My Health Record, Electronic Prescriptions, and my health App.

About the Role

The Research, Analytics and Data Branch is seeking a Director, Data Strategy and Governance (EL2) for a full-time ongoing position. Reporting to the Chief Data & Analytics Officer, this role is responsible for developing and managing the Agency's data policy, strategy and data governance framework as aligned to the Agency's work program; and managing the delivery of the Agency's scope of the My Health Record Research for Public Health Program.

This role will work closely with various business areas across the Agency to provide leadership, subject matter expertise and support to various business areas across the Agency, particularly as related to data strategy and governance. The role is responsible for defining and implementing data maturity uplift, including agency data literacy programs, to address strategic data-related risks throughout the data asset lifecycle. The position supports branches across the agency to ensure that all data held is trusted, secure, and safely accessible, supporting informed decision-making throughout the agency.

Skills and Experience

  • Demonstrated leadership in reform programs, with the capability to design, implement, and embed policy frameworks within complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
  • Extensive experience developing and executing data strategies, including spearheading maturity and literacy uplift initiatives, and building persuasive cases for organisational change to enhance data capabilities.
  • Thorough knowledge of industry best practices in data strategy, policy, and governance.
  • Strong understanding of project management frameworks and methodologies.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a proven background in providing expert guidance on policy, navigating complex problem-solving, and managing issues for both internal and external stakeholders.

Eligibility

  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Negative Vetting 1 security clearance with the ability to obtain and maintain a higher clearance if required by the Agency.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain national police check.
  • Australian Citizenship is a condition of eligibility.
