Are you ready to influence the planning policies that safeguard and deliver critical transport infrastructure? As Senior Advisor (Planning Policy), you'll provide expert advice on legislation and policy implementation for state-controlled roads, rail, ports, and more. This role offers the opportunity to lead complex policy initiatives,
collaborate with government stakeholders, and ensure Queensland's transport corridors are protected for generations to come.

In the role of Senior Advisor (Planning Policy) you will play an important role in meeting the outcomes of the Statewide Transport Planning Management Section in the Transport Strategy and Planning Branch.

This role will involve developing and providing advice on the implementation of planning policy and legislation to enable the protection and delivery of state transport corridors and infrastructure in Queensland. This includes policy and legislation relating to state-controlled roads, railways, busways, light rail, ports, airports and maritime safety, and working with planning instruments such as the State Planning Policy and State Development Assessment Provisions. The role also involves providing advice on the implementation of policy in plan making and development assessment processes.

Some of your responsibilities will include:

• Developing and facilitating the implementation of complex policy initiatives.

• Researching and analysing transport planning policy and legislation issues to provide:

o high quality and timely policy solutions to internal and external stakeholders.

o advice on the implications of commonwealth and state government policy and legislation for state transport interests, including the government's ability to deliver transport infrastructure.

• Preparing a range of official government documentation, including drafting policy, reports, discussion papers, correspondence and briefing notes.

• Developing and maintaining effective stakeholder relationships, including facilitating workshops with representatives from commonwealth, state and local government agencies.

To thrive in this role, you will need to demonstrate the following:

Experience, knowledge, skills, and attributes

• Strong research and analytical skills to assess implications and recommend policy and legislation change to support the protection and delivery of state transport corridors and infrastructure in Queensland.

• Demonstrated well-developed written and oral communication skills to draft policy initiatives, communicate complex ideas, and recommend and implement policy changes.

• Demonstrated experience in building and maintaining successful professional relationships and networks with a range of technical stakeholders.

• Knowledge and understanding of Queensland's planning system and legislation relating to state-controlled roads, railways, busways, light rail, ports, airports and maritime safety.

• Tertiary qualifications in urban and regional planning would be an advantage.
