IT and Network Support Engineer

Location: Blacktown, Sydney, Australia

Employment Type: Contractual

Overview:

We are seeking a skilled Network Support Engineer to become a key part of our IT operations team. This role focuses on ensuring the reliability, performance, and security of our network infrastructure. The right candidate will be proactive, technically strong, and enthusiastic about keeping users connected seamlessly.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues across LAN, WAN, and wireless networks.
  • Configure and support routers, switches, firewalls, and wireless access points.
  • Provide assistance for VPN setups and remote access solutions.
  • Keep network documentation and asset inventories accurate and up to date.
  • Support cloud and server connectivity (AWS / Azure environments).
  • Deliver user support for VoIP systems, printers, and shared resources.
  • Work closely with IT colleagues to implement upgrades, patches, and improvements.
  • Participate in on-site installation activities, including:
  • Access Point Mounting
  • Bracket Installation
  • Cable Patching
  • Cable Termination

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Solid understanding of network protocols including TCP/IP, DHCP, DNS, and VLANs.
  • Experience with network monitoring tools (e.g., SolarWinds, PRTG, Nagios, Zabbix).
  • Hands-on knowledge of Cisco, Juniper, or MikroTik hardware.
  • Good grasp of firewalls, VPN technologies, and security best practices.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365, Active Directory, and remote support utilities.
  • Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent are advantageous.
