JS Careers are pleased to be assisting a growing and innovative financial services company on the search for a Senior Legal Counsel to join its collaborative in-house legal team. Reporting to the Head of Legal, this role plays a critical part in enabling strategic growth, advising on complex legal matters, and supporting commercial initiatives across the business.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide practical legal guidance on consumer and small business lending, privacy, and commercial contracts.
  • Advise on strategic projects, partnerships, regulatory engagement, and product development.
  • Support the development of a new novated leasing channel.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to address legal issues aligned with business goals.
  • Maintain oversight of day-to-day legal operations and manage stakeholder priorities.
  • Work closely with Risk & Compliance to uphold internal governance standards.

What You'll Bring:

  • Hold a current Australian practicing certificate;
  • Ideally 10+ years PQE, with expertise in consumer credit, privacy law, and commercial contracting in Australia;
  • In-depth knowledge of relevant legislation (NCCP, Privacy Act, ASIC Act, AML/CTF).
  • Experience with digital platforms, APIs, data flows, and cybersecurity issues.
  • Familiarity with loan facilities, PPSR, and general corporate law.
  • Strong communication skills and a solution-oriented mindset.
  • Project leadership experience and a collaborative working style.
