Are you passionate about helping students overcome barriers and stay engaged in their education journey? As a Student Experience and Retention Officer at GOTAFE, you will play a vital role in providing welfare support, engagement strategies, and advocacy services to assist students in achieving their study goals. This position is an excellent opportunity to work directly with students, deliver meaningful interventions, and make a real difference in their retention and success.

As the successful candidate, you will have:

  • A Diploma of Community Welfare or equivalent and/or experience within community welfare or working towards a related qualification.
  • Strong skills in providing intervention, counselling, and welfare support to students at risk of disengagement.
  • Experience working with local support services and building referral networks.
  • Excellent communication, conflict resolution, and negotiation skills.
  • High-level organisational skills, including accurate record-keeping and reporting.
  • A flexible, creative, and proactive approach to supporting student success and wellbeing.
  • A proactive and professional approach, with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and integrity.

If you are successful in this role you will be required to provide:

  • A current Police Check (date of issue is to be no more than 6 months prior to commencement date)
  • A current Working with Children Check - Employee (or proof of application)
  • A current Driver's Licence (Car).

The salary for this position relates to PACCT 5 under the GOTAFE Enterprise PACCT Agreement 2023.
