Senior Test Analyst

About the role

An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Test Analyst to join a large, dynamic ICT project team. In this role, you will support the Test Lead in the delivery of high-quality testing outcomes across complex, custom-built software applications.

You will be responsible for both manual and automation testing activities across mobile platforms (iOS, Windows, and Android), ensuring that all solutions meet business and technical requirements.

This is a hands-on role requiring strong attention to detail, collaborative teamwork, and a commitment to delivering excellence in a fast-paced Agile environment.

Key responsibilities

• Perform assigned testing functions under the direction of the Test Lead, ensuring all work aligns with project goals and timeframes.
• Review solution changes and confirm they meet business and technical requirements through effective test planning and execution.
• Translate complex business and technical requirements into detailed test cases by collaborating with both business and development teams.
• Conduct system, integration, regression, and performance testinga, logging and prioritising defects accurately within established frameworks.
• Work collaboratively with stakeholders to achieve timely test planning, execution, and defect resolution while maintaining high standards of quality and customer service.
• Develop, update, and execute Test Plans and Test Cases using iOS, UWP, and Android devices or BrowserStack (App-Live).
• Perform manual and automated app testing, including accessibility testing using screen readers and font adjustments.
• Develop automation scripts using Python and/or C# in PyCharm and Visual Studio, respectively.
• Use Appium and BrowserStack (App-Automate) for automated mobile app testing.
• Monitor and update applications within various test environments via Azure DevOps.
• Provide regular reports on testing outcomes, contribute to testing estimates, and participate in release walkthroughs.
• Escalate issues, risks, and dependencies through appropriate channels as required.

Highly desirable criteria

• Previous experience conducting testing for mobile applications across multiple platforms.
• Proficiency with tools such as BrowserStack, ReadyAPI, and LoadUI.
• Hands-on experience with automation scripting in Python and/or C#.
• Familiarity with Appium, Azure DevOps, and Visual Studio.
• Experience applying accessibility testing in line with WCAG standards.
• Strong understanding of Agile and Scrum methodologies.

Desirable criteria

• ISTQB certification or other relevant industry-level qualifications.
• Degree in Information Technology or a related discipline.
• Experience working in large, complex ICT environments or public sector projects.
• Exposure to custom-built software development projects.
• Understanding of the SFIA framework (particularly Levels 4–5 in Testing and Methods & Tools).

Skills and experience

• Proven ability to create and amend test designs, cases, and scripts from requirements and technical specifications.
• Demonstrated experience in end-to-end system testing, defect tracking, and quality assurance within both Waterfall and Agile environments.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify, document, and communicate defects effectively.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders and work well within a cross-functional team.
• Sound knowledge of automation tools, data migration testing, and database query validation.
• A proactive, detail-oriented approach with a focus on achieving quality outcomes.
