About Our Organisation:

Youth Off The Streets is a not-for-profit youth services organisation that supports 12–24-year-olds experiencing or at risk of homelessness and complex disadvantage.

We walk alongside each young person as we seek to understand their needs and goals, and we offer the safety, support and education that helps them to realise their potential.

Our Cultural Support team works with all areas of YOTS to ensure the rights and needs of staff, young people and communities from diverse cultural backgrounds are reflected in all of our services and programs.

The Role:

The People and Culture (P&C) Advisor assists with the general functions of the P&C team, the HRIS system and provides first level generalist HR advice to employees and management on recruitment, policies and procedures, employee relations, workers compensation, performance reviews, grievance handling and company culture.

Key Responsibilities:

Recruitment:

  • End to end recruitment activity including job advertisements, screening, interviews, reference checking, probity checking, letters of offer, onboarding and induction. Ensuring the hiring of suitable and capable talent to meet business requirements within budget.
  • Creation of position descriptions

Advisory:

  • Work with Line Management groups to build and implement solutions as per business requirements.
  • Providing recommendations covering multiple P&C areas such as legislation, policies, awards, resource planning and record administration.
  • Providing interpretation and counsel to Line Management regarding policies and practices.
  • Researching issues to provide the business with solutions.

Grievances and investigations:

  • Managing grievance processes and conducting IR/ER investigations, in collaboration with Management
  • Identifying the causes and contributing factors to incidents/outcomes/ issues
  • Reporting on investigations

HR systems and reporting:

  • Ensure HR systems guarantee greater efficiency and effectiveness
  • Provide advice on system enquiries and system set up
  • Action HR systems configuration changes and updates
  • All HR reports are completed and undertake reports analysis
  • Training and support to end users

Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge in Human Resources best practices
  • Proficiency in MS Office package & record keeping
  • Consultation, Negotiation and Facilitation skills
  • Relationship building and influencing skills.
  • Ability to work under high pressure situations and changing priority environments
  • Effective record keeping
  • Service Oriented with excellent, communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge of employment legislation, awards and enterprise agreementsBusiness Partnering capability

Requirements:

Qualification & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in HR, Psychology, Business Administration or related field or commensurate experience in similar areas/disciplines.
  • Minimum 3 years HR advisory experience
  • Previous administrative experience
  • Experience in utilising HR systems and the ability to generate reports
